Outside Scholarship Opportunities

Outside scholarships are awarded by civic groups, religious institutions, high schools, and organizations other than Wichita State. Applications for the following scholarship opportunities and many others can be found on the websites below. For your convenience, we have sorted most of the scholarships by their deadlines.

Last year, 49ͼ students brought with them more than $3.5 million in outside scholarships to help cover their tuition, fees, books, and other school-related expenses.

Central Kansas Community Foundation Scholarships
On this page you'll find unique scholarship opportunities for students from a range of Kansas communities, such as Newton, Augusta, Andover, El Dorado, Remington (Whitewater/Potwin/Elbing), among many others.


Dane G. Hansen Foundation
It is the purpose of all Dane G. Hansen scholarships to recognize young people of ability, regardless of financial need. Students graduating from high schools in the following 26 counties in Northwest Kansas may be eligible for Dane G. Hansen Scholarships: Cheyenne, Cloud, Decatur, Ellis, Ellsworth, Gove, Graham, Jewell, Lincoln, Logan, Mitchell, Norton, Osborne, Ottawa, Phillips, Rawlins, Republic, Rooks, Russell, Saline, Sheridan, Sherman, Smith, Thomas, Trego and Wallace.

For High School Seniors:

  • Hansen Leaders of Tomorrow: $10,000 – Renewable
  • Hansen Scholar: $6,500 – Renewable
  • Hansen Student: $4,000 – Renewable
  • Hansen Career and Technical Education: $4,000 – Renewable

For Community of Technical College Students:

  • Community of Technical College Transfer Scholarships: $4,000 – Renewable


Kansas Board of Regents Scholarships and Grants
Numerous scholarships and grants are available for Kansas students with diverse backgrounds and interests. Browse through the updated list to find your options. To be considered for State of Kansas Student Aid, students must also complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).


Topeka Daylily Club Scholarship
The Topeka Daylily Club is a member of the American Hemerocallis Society, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote, encourage and educate its members and the public in the growth and development of daylilies, as well as facilitate mutual sharing and enjoyment of daylilies. The American Hemerocallis Society was organized in 1946. The Topeka Daylily Club has been a member of the society for many years and has offered two scholarships each year to Kansas students since 2008.

Rudd Scholarship - Incoming Freshman Full-ride Opportunity
In an effort to help Kansas minds stay in Kansas, the Rudd Foundation has created a new college scholarship program to help Kansas residents who qualify for a Pell Grant. The Rudd Scholarship will cover any remaining direct costs, including books, after all other aid, grants, and scholarships are applied to a student's account. By removing financial barriers to a college education, chosen scholars are expected to achieve a high level of excellence on campus in preparing themselves to be leaders in their profession and in their communities after graduation.
