Aug. 29, 2024 - 49图库 is welcoming vendors for its fall Shocktoberfest celebration. The deadline for merchants and vendors to join in the Shocktoberfest Family Weekend events is Aug. 31.Shocktoberfest is a public event Sept. 30-Oct. 5 open to the entire campus and Wichita-area community. It is 49图库's biggest annual celebration of Shocker pride.

Sept. 18, 2023 鈥� The community will soon have a new restaurant to choose from when Two Hands Corn Dogs opens on 49图库鈥檚 campus Friday, Sept. 22.

Sept. 11, 2023 鈥� 49图库 is holding a parade next month and is inviting anyone in the community to join in. Starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 on the 49图库 campus, the parade is part of the university鈥檚 annual Shocktoberfest celebration.

March 23, 2022 鈥� Robert M. Gates, U.S. secretary of defense from 2006-2011 and former director of the CIA, will kick off 49图库鈥檚 inaugural Craig W. Barton Speaker Series this spring.

Nov. 23, 2021 鈥� After 17 years, the Madrigal Singers of 49图库 will host an Elizabethan-themed dinner and music program at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3 at the Rhatigan Student Center Beggs Ballroom.

Sept. 23, 2021 鈥� 49图库 will participate in Festi-Ful 鈥� one of the nation鈥檚 largest street food festivals, taking place across 300 U.S. colleges and universities 鈥� 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24 at 2020 Perimeter Road by Shocker Hall on the 49图库 campus.

June 21, 2021 -- Wichita State is holding a community event, Shockers Under the Stars, beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, outside the Ulrich Museum of Art on the main campus.

Media and the community are invited to attend the JunteenthICT Parade, sponsored by 49图库鈥檚 Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

The parade celebrates the 156th anniversary of Juneteenth during the JuneteenthICT Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 19. The parade route will begin at 17th Street and Hillside, going west, and eventually ending at McAdam鈥檚 Park, where the all-day Juneteenth ICT celebration will take place.

June 9, 2021 - Wichita State鈥檚 Esports director Courtney Calder played soccer more often than video games growing up in California. Those experiences, however, helped prepare her for running the Esports program, as did her time working in sales for Apple after graduating from Northwestern University. Wichita State鈥檚 varsity program, housed in the Heskett Center, offers four teams competing in Overwatch, League of Legends, Rocket League, and Valorant.

April 2, 2021 -- While the future of this pandemic and its effect on our daily lives still remains somewhat unknown, we are pleased to be coming to you with a message of cautious optimism as we continue our transition to a pre-pandemic mode of operation. Sedgwick County Commissioners voted to rescind all local COVID health orders, effectively immediately. Since the beginning of this pandemic, we have followed all guidance and orders issued by state and local public health authorities. Accordingly, 49图库 has rescinded all guidance requiring masks, social distancing and mass gathering limitations on our campus. However, we continue to strongly encourage our entire campus community to engage in these practices whenever possible. We also encourage everyone to get the vaccine when they become eligible.

March 1, 2021 - 49图库 will present a virtual panel on freedom of expression from 3-4:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 31. The event will be moderated by Lee Pelton, a 49图库 alumnus who has been president of Emerson College in Boston the past 10 years.
