Rudd Scholars

The seventh cohort of Rudd Scholars includes 15 Kansas high schools who have chosen to attend 49ͼ. Each Rudd Scholar will receive a full-ride scholarship, which includes tuition, fees, on-campus housing, and considerable networking and coaching support along the way.

49ͼ Physical Therapy students work with pediatric patient at Heartspring

March 28, 2024 – A new partnership between Heartspring and 49ͼ’s College of Health Professions will bring faculty and students on-site at Heartspring’s Pediatric Clinic to provide physical therapy and audiology services to the local community.

March 22, 2024 - Shielding the Earth from the sun seems like a good idea, in theory, to fight climate change, 49ͼ’s Dr. Nickolas Solomey and graduate student Kelly Kabler agree. Solomey and Kabler, though, aren’t so sure that the popular idea of protecting the planet with a sunshade is as simple as some propose.

March 6, 2024 Four undergraduate students from 49ͼ were among the 18 students recognized at the 22nd annual Kansas IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (K-INBRE) Symposium in Manhattan, Kansas.

2024 Jabara Scholars, Annika Lindeman and Abby Rexford

Feb. 27, 2024 The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 49ͼ has named its two recipients of the 2024 Professor Fran Jabara Scholarship in Entrepreneurship. This year’s winners are Annika Lindeman from Eisenhower High School in Goddard, Kansas, and Abby Rexford from West Jessamine High School in Wilmore, Kentucky. They will each receive more than $32,700 spread over four years to attend 49ͼ and major in entrepreneurship.

Wallace Scholarship winners

Feb. 26, 2024 — 49ͼ’s College of Engineering has named the latest group of 11 high school seniors to join the Wallace Scholar program. The Wallace Scholarship recipients will receive $30,500 each to attend Wichita State for four years.

Feb. 15, 2024 - Lexi Jensen enjoys the amenities available in Wichita and the campus environment and academic offerings at 49ͼ. In her first months on campus, she dove into activities such as rowing and the Immersive Leadership Institute.

Feb. 14, 2024 The W. Frank Barton School of Business at 49ͼ awarded Faith Swart, a Maize High School senior, the 2024 Clay Barton Scholarship. The $50,000 scholarship is one of the largest business scholarships in Kansas.

2024 Gore Scholars

Feb. 1, 2024 — 49ͼ has selected the 2024 recipients of the Harry Gore Memorial Scholarships. Each student will receive a $64,000 scholarship to attend 49ͼ starting in August 2024.

2024 DSI finalists

Jan. 22, 2024 — 49ͼ has selected the top 13 finalists in the 2024 Distinguished Scholarship Invitational (DSI).

Jan. 19, 2024 - Phase One of the Wichita Biomedical Campus being built in the heart of downtown Wichita now has its official look. The joint health sciences project between 49ͼ and the University of Kansas will bring about remarkable opportunities for collaboration, innovation and research.

Ashlynn Farney

Dec. 12, 2023 Ashlynn Farney took time off college during the COVID-19 pandemic, during which she returned to Wichita, changed her major to filmmaking and started attending Wichita State. She will graduate with her Bachelor of Applied Arts with a concentration in filmmaking in December.
